Surgical Procedures

Our board certified surgeons have the training, skill and experience to perform many different surgical procedures, including those described below.

Abdominal Surgery

Some of the more common abdominal surgical procedures include removal of the appendix, removal of the gallbladder, colon surgery, hernia repairs of all types, procedures to treat heartburn and exploratory surgery to diagnose medical conditions. Many of these surgeries can be performed laparoscopically or robotically.

Bariatric Surgery

Bariatric surgery is surgery to the digestive system to aid in weight loss.

Breast Cancer Surgery

Our surgeons offer a number of surgical options to treat and manage breast disease including percutaneous biopsies, fine needle aspirations, core needle biopsies, lumpectomies, mastectomies, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Cancer Surgery

Cancer surgery can involve the removal of all or part of the cancer.  Our surgeons perform these procedures for the purpose of diagnosing, treating or relieving symptoms that cancer may cause.

Endocrine Surgery

Endocrine surgery is the surgical treatment of endocrine disease.  Endocrine diseases include adrenal tumors, parathyroid cancer, thyroid disease and Cushing’s syndrome.  Our surgeons perform thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy procedures and work closely with the patient who suffers from endocrine disease to provide the best care possible.

Endoscopic Examinations

Endoscopic procedures generally involve the use of a flexible tube with a camera at one end which allows the physician to view the inside of the upper and lower portions of the digestive tract through a small scope attached to a video monitor.  These procedures are usually performed without making major incisions which allows the patient to recover with little discomfort.

Gastrointestinal Procedures

Gastroenterology conditions affect the digestive tract. The digestive tract includes the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, pancreas, gallbladder and rectum. These conditions include constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, bloating, irritable bowel syndrome, colitis, celiac disease, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn’s disease, nausea, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and Barrett’s Esophagus.

Hemorrhoid Treatment

Our surgeons offer numerous surgical options for the treatment of hemorrhoids,  depending upon the patient’s type of hemorrhoid condition.

Laparoscopic Treatment

This surgery, which may also be referred to as minimally invasive, involves the use of a tiny camera inside the body through a small lighted telescope connected to a video monitor. Because incisions are very small, laparoscopic surgery usually means outpatient surgery and a faster recovery time.

Lymph Node Biopsies

A lymph node biopsy is the surgical removal of lymph node tissue for testing.  A lymph node biopsy is often performed to look for infection or cancer.  Our surgeons perform these biopsies to help determine the appropriate management and treatment of any underlying condition or disease.

Pilonidal Cyst

These cysts can be small, but they are quite painful, making day-to-day life difficult. We offer incision and excision procedures to remedy the problem.

Robotic Assisted Surgery

Robotic assisted surgery is  surgery performed using a robotic medical instrument.  Robotic assisted procedures allow the surgeon to operate with greater precision and allows patients to heal more quickly and with minimal scarring.

Skin Cancers

Our surgeons offer treatment for melanoma as well as basal cell and  squamous cell carcinoma.

Soft Tissue Tumors

These include Lipomas, Sebaceous cysts and other soft tissue tumors.  These can often be removed in our offices using local anesthesia.

Thoracic Surgery

Thoracic surgery is the  surgical care and management of conditions and diseases of the chest cavity (Thorax).

Trauma Care

Trauma care is the operative and non-operative management of injuries, typically in an acute setting.  Examples of these injuries include cuts, internal injuries, and shock. Surgery may be done to repair blunt-force injuries and sometimes requires operating on several critical injuries in the same person.

Vascular / Endovascular Surgery

Vascular surgery is a specialized area of medicine that treats diseases and conditions of the arteries and veins of the neck, abdomen and lower extremities.  Some of the conditions treated include abdominal aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease, peripheral artery disease, blood clots and varicose veins.
