Dr. Gilbertson is a Board Certified General surgeon. She is a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, receiving her general surgery training at Michigan State University – Lansing Center for Medical Studies in Lansing, Michigan.

She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a position that requires devotion to surgical practice and uncompromising adherence to the ethical standards of the College. Fellows must have graduated from a medical school accepted by the College, be certified by the American Board of Medical Specialty, hold an unrestricted medical license to practice, and be a specialist in surgery.  This designation means that Dr. Gilbertson’s education, training, surgical aptitude, professional experience and ethical conduct have passed a thorough evaluation and are consistent with the high standards expected of Fellows by the College.  Dr. Gilbertson is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.  Certification as a Diplomate is voluntary and exhibits a surgeon’s dedication to continuous learning and providing superior care to patients.

Interests

Her interests include minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.  She specializes in the surgical care of patients who are unable to tolerate general anesthesia and require regional or local anesthesia.

Dr. Gilbertson individualizes her surgical approach to best meet the needs of each patient and that patient’s situation.
